ebay trailer ramps not as I thought!
As some of you may of all ready noticed i am currently building up a trailer. I brought off of eBay some ramps that are rated to 1500lb. Once I
received them i had a look at the manual and it states the limit as 1000lb!
Worse than that I put one on a step in the garden and stood on it. Just with my weight of a static 85kg bouncing slightly I bent one of the ramps!
There is no way i can load my car using these. I'll contact them on Monday to sort out a refund but I'm really disappointed. These
should be able to take 680kg but can't even support me bouncing a very small amount.
Surly me bopping cant create +680kg. I have been sold some cheap crap! !

If so I would assume thats 680kg for both, so 340 per ramp. Wouldnt be to hard to peak that by bouncing on them.

You were going to load your car onto a trailer using ramps rated at 680KGs ? That must be close to the weight of your car? Too close for comfort in my
opinion, unless you have a very light car. I would want a set where the car did not exceed 75% of the rated load to be on the safe side. Especially as
I have invested a lot of my hard earned time and effort into building it in the first place.

I think that youre misreading the specs and making a number of underestimates and over estimates but it may also be cheap tat.
The rating will be per pair, assuming static even weight on ramps.
Your car may weigh 680kg but its unlikely one axle will see 》60% of that and thats what will load the ramps, so around 400kg.So around 200
per ramp static.
Its not too hard to generate 2g effective loading by bouncing, but obviously that depends how hard you bouncee.
However they are still mis-sold if the manual states less than the ad.

To be fair, it does state 'lawnmowers, quads' etc. and nowhere mentions cars. But, I agree with coyoteboy, if they are advertised at 680kg
and the manual states less then you should be elligible for a refund.
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

Buy 4 bolt together
At 230mm wide they are a bit narrow for say 205 tyres you'll have 1/2" ether way

Make it so the deck hinges, you only need little ramps then
 
Trailer tilted
I used gate hinges from SCATS, farmers supplies.
Made my ramps, 1" box rectangle in filled with 1" round tube every 4".

My car weighs 550kg and has a reasonably even corner weight. If the ramps were rated to 1500lb then I think they would of been fine. That's 80%
of the max load so certainly not excessive.
1000lb is a different story. I used ebay and paid with PayPal so I should be covered.
They are the ramps by the way.
My tyres are 165 so I have about an inch per side.

If it's any help the pic shows the ones I made for my trailer.
Folds at 40 60 300 60 40 (inside) and 3mm galv sheet used. ( [_______] shape )
I have had a V8 MX5 on them that must have gone well over a tonne with no deflection.
A local engineering firm would knock them up for you I'm sure.

Are you still allowed to make your own trailer now, I thought the law had changed so that any new trailers had to be approved with a plate or
something.

Im not making a new trailer. Im just putting a new top on one. It has already got a plate on it.
