Any central locking quick fixes?
Probably not anything worth doing that can be done due to the value of the car but the lock on my passengerside front door seems to have stopped
working with the central locking, and the drivers side rear door has been the same since I bought it. The car in question is a N reg Vectra with
remote central locking, one of the fobs needs a new battery as it has uncoded itself twice (I reset it just to see if it was just knocked out of wack
but by the next day it didn't work again) I don't suppose that would cause it.
Any one know of any easy things that might fix it? I've done without central locking before so I'm not that bothered.

Non working doors are very often caused by broken wires in the loom where is passes from the door to the main body, because they get flexed every time
the door is opened and shut.

Broken cable in the door maybe where it goes between body and door. Otherwise it's just the motor in the door which is inexpensive.
Vauxhall keys are well known for loosening their soldered joints where the battery holder is. Open up the key and squeeze in a rolled up bit of paper
between battery and outer casing if you don't fancy resoldering it.

I'm on my 3rd door lock for this with my saab - it has always been a faulty lock rather than the wiring loom and they are about a tenner second
hand.

Central locking problem on an individual door is usually down to faulty latch but usually they fault only occurs in one operating ie usually the
door will lock but not unlock or alternatively unlock but not lock.
As for key fobs there is a guy on ebay who repair/recondition Vauxhall fobs, usually you get the fob back within a day or so.

The front one has started working again. I'm gonna get the battery changed in the fob and see if that works but its the one that obviously was
used as the main key and the other one is in good nick. Thanks for the advice.

Battery in fob won't affect individually intermittent doors.
