Best 50quid spent in a while

Filled up the celica and thought "I will just go and test the new suspension settings". 160 miles later and I've done a trip round to inverary, burned half a tank of fuel and have a very big grin on my face.

worth every penny.

I've not had it professionally set up yet, I spent a bit time with chunks of steel, string and angle gauges and found I had significant toe out and not enough neg camber up front. fixing the camber fixed the toe. I've since been tweaking the damping on every commute and it now feels like it is slid on rails but I have only really done this as I didn't have a chance to get out to do it properly and didn't want to shred tyres in the mean time!

Actually, that's not strictly true - i forgot the vital bit. I had a word with a friend of mine who's a chassis and suspension designer and he's helped me nail a few of the smaller issues I couldn't fix myself (like a slight tendency for the rear to hop when loaded up in a corner).
