Steering, how best to shorten this
Afternoon all, can anyone suggest a good way to shorten this by 2 inches after a nice strong suggestion?
Would just welding it back together be strong enough??

Yes, have to agree. If not cut, shorten and sleeve lower down.

ISTR there's a clamp on jobber from CBS that replaces the rubber with an (admittedly, a bit crap) UJ , about as strong and safe as you can do it
I reckon.
This I think, actually looks a bit less crap than
the one I have.

The inner slides in and out so wont that be short enough or can you pull the inner out and cut so much off the inner end ?

It'll be fairly tight and some have some shear off plastic pegs to overcome (don't think Ford did). I'd give the lower section a
clean with emery first and apply a bit of grease to prevent forcing the rust/crap in and it binding up.
