How to seal a leaking gearbox
I've got a Golf with a DSG gearbox and it's had a bit of a meeting with a speed bump and now has developed a nice little leak! I've
had a rummage and it's coming from a where the gearbox casings meet each other (not where it bolts to the engine) it's reasonbly bad and
not really a option just topping it up,so I've got to sort something.
A new gearbox is big money (£800ish) so I'm really not keen on that, I know my best bet is it take the gearbox out drain it clean up and tig the
seam up but at the minute I'm short on time and really can't be bothered with that but was wondering if anyone knew of anything would seal
it as a temporary/permanant fix?
Thanks in advance!

JB weld and all its clones are pretty good for that sort of thing. Never as good as a proper repair. Try and get as clean as possible first

needs to be really clean but araldite has worked on ally sumps for me especially if you warm it up before applying the araldite gives a glass like
finish so doesn't look unsightly either
