New Sprint Series - Non MSA

There has always been things like that, MLR Sprint series was non-MSA as was Time Attack till recently.

I thought the usual multiplyer was x1.7. So in the under 1600 class there could be some very rapid turbo/supercharged bike engine sevens I guess.
Not sure how many 3 lap sessions (out alp, timed lap, in lap) you will get in a day for your £60 -
3 laps at approx 1min 30sec per lap = about 5 mins per timed session per car - so you can get through 1 car per hour in each category - any more than
an average of 7 cars per category and you have run out of time for even one run. So I would suggest that there would be a maximum of 80 cars per event
just to get one timed lap. That assumes only one caron the track at any one time, I guess you could be running three, one on an out, one on a timed
and one on a in lap, marshalling that may be interesting through.
Also the categories are very kit/special oriented with any production based car going into one of the capacity limited sections.
Looks like a good way to get on track safely and see some very quick cars on a day out but don't expect the track time of a track day though, I
think you will be lucky to gt two goes in a day for your £60.

1.4 is the norm. Most tracks will run more than one of track (Curborough is different in this regard).

X1.4 is the norm for msa sprint/hillclimb events, everything else is x1.7 for forced inductio petrols.
Its good to challenge the establishment, my worry would be the insurance and liabilities should someone have a huge off and be seriously injured or
worse.
Will keep an interested eye on it :-)

there were some sprints run at croft this year that were the same setup think that one was run by javelin

And as far as I'm aware (from reading on another forum) any Msa license holder may have there license taken From them if they compete in a non
Msa event!

Whilst I like anything getting new faces into motorsport seeing someone driving round a track flat out in a t shirt makes me cringe, I also wonder if
any safety checks are carried out on competing cars prior to them taking to the track.
The msa run events may cost a little more but you will be far safer as cars and kit are checked for safety ( who wants to go out in a car with a badly
made cage or something wrong with it dressed like a candle ) motorsport is dangerous so minimise the risks.
When you get an msa licence it comes with a book full of rules and regs (blue book) not all will apply to your chosen field so you need to check
through the appropriate sections. There is a section on kit ie helmet, gloves, boots & suit and contrary to popular belief it doesn't need
to cost a fortune thanks to company's like playskool motorsport etc.
When I started sprinting at only my second event I saw a single seater come off at olivers mount go through the safety fence down an embankment and
hit a tree then burst into flames the driver was fine as he had nomex on with balaclava and fireproof helmet, I doubt he would have been in a t shirt
and motorcycle helmet (ie dressed like a candle ;-) )

MSA is not that expensive anyway, the AMOC is free to enter provided you are a club member, £80 for the day
FDMC is £15 club membership, I think it was £70 for the last event
So pennies difference
If you enter a road going class you do not need an MSA log book, just tax, insurance and MOT and be running list A tyres, the real expense then is
safety, decent hat and clothes - it's your life so what value do you put on that?

And a bit of competition is great too! The guys and girls in our sprint series are very helpful. Made all us new guys welcome and came to congratulate
when we beat them. It was a fantastic entry into Motorsport and after the 2015 season I might have a crack at service hydraulics midland speed series
or some British rounds!

Midland speed is really good, but the British are a drag sometimes. All 2 day meetings and most are 2 practice runs saturday and 2 timed sunday,
unless you are quick enough to make the top 12 runoff.
As i live close to loton, i usually give one of the others in my class my phone number and get them to call me sunday morning when the previous batch
are called. No scrutineering at Brit 2 dayers on the sunday, so i turn up in safety gear at 10.45 and just do my 1st timed :-)
