Can't help regarding parking but the train is pretty convenient for the NEC.

It's expensive.
No way around it really, unless you ride in on a motorcycle, the booths on the car park exit are manned until late.
After so many years of patronage I've decided to give the show a miss this year. Many reasons, but the main one I guess is the
'sameness' of the last few years trade days. It's also (even with the MSA discount) a tad expensive for the experience, the whole
attendance (for me) comes to a fair proportion of a race entry this year. A totally meaningless personal viewpoint.
If you're travelling some distance, might be worth doing the Travelodge and using the parking there?

NEC
I used to park at Berkswell station, free to park £2.50 return on train straight into NEC.

I usually park at the Birmingham International Station, cheaper than NEC £5 for the day. Just a walk over the bridge and easier to get out at the
end!!
