Theft of TVR engined Ford Escort Mexico
Take a look at this:

Absolutely disgusting. A piece of motoring history stolen by some absolute scum, clipping a classic 911 on the way out. The news broke on
Pistonheads, and has spread onto the
Daily Mail's site too.
It was taken from Trackspeed in Ripley. Spread the word, hopefully these cretins will be found soon along with the Escort.

I wonder what the thieves plans for the car are ? Not like they can change the plates and drive around unnoticed. If they are parting it out are the
shells worth anything without a log book ?
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Either strip for parts or more likeley sell it to a wealthy foreign buyer and ship the car abroad where it won't ever be seen again

Hmmm, if I was the owner of any of the other cars in there I'd be more concerned with Trackspeeds piss-poor security. A bollard in front of the
window wouldn't have gone amiss.
Security cameras and alarms are great but its definitely a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.
Question:
Would anyone here consider a plate of glass adequate security for their Locost?
Edit: I'm not in anyway condoning the theft (as I'm sure some more hysterical people will make out) but I'm just pointing out that
if you leave a £120k car on display at night with only a pain of glass between it and thieving scum what can you expect.

I would imagine, it would be stripped and the shell used for a rally car as it's a two door, but it all depends who nicked it

If that car really has a TVR V8 in it, it's not a proper Mexico, and certainly not worth £120k.
The criminal is the mindless idiot who put the V8 in it, if it ever was a proper classic Mexico!
Now on its way to Russia or China.

I was thinking exactly the same. If that was my showroom I would have bollards and prob roller shutters. My car is only worth 5k and I worry about its
security and I have more than that showroom

Why is his car not worth £120K? It's worth what somebody is willing to pay for it surely? This is exactly the sort of tosh that I had to put up
with when I joined the AVO owners club. I had a 1974 MK1 Mexico to which I made some modifications in order to improve the car; better brakes, better
gearbox, engine mods, ECU etc. People would turn their noses up at my car and criticise me for making my car the way that I wanted it. The fact that
it had benefited from a full nut and bolt restoration and was better than when it left the showroom seemed to count for nothing. Sold the car after
owning it for about six years as I was strapped for cash. Saw it for sale on Pistonheads about four years ago for £35k......

showroom with 10 other expensive cars sitting around.
I gave up counting a few years ago, between myself and the original owner who started the project build 10 years ago we have spent over £100k, off the
top of my head i can add at least another £15k in the last few years alone. This car was a love and a passion, not built for a profit - when was the
last time we ever made our money back on a project car, from my experience i am always on the wrong side of the equation, but it was an addiction. The
figuress quoted by the media reflect the build cost and pile of receipts i have, not what its worth if i had to go to webuyanycar!
Thanks to everyone that is spreading the word, hopefully i will get the car back soon before it is stripped and sold, burnt or dumped.

Thats ridiculous. Just because £ x has been spent, it does not mean the car is worth that much but whatever a buyer is willing to pay.
If a car has had its engine rebuilt 4 times, is its value increased by the total cost ?
I suspect the £120 k includes labour.
The numbers are somewhat unrealustic hence talk of insurance scam.
Webuyanycar value my volvo at 300 but i probably spent 20x on it over the years. I doubt any punter woukd pay £ 6k for it.
Whether the caer is recovered is neither herer nor there as it is not significant historically just one of many cars stolen each day. Its a pisser
for the owner. Why no bollards?
