Tow bar type for medium sized van?
After setting up my own business and going self employed I'm after a towbar for a vw caddy maxi. Any recommendations as to makes or type best
suited?
Trailer will be very light and car is 300kg! Cheers

Yeah. The prices vary massively though? Are there any reason for this?

I'd be looking at a westfalia towbar, in fact I am looking for one for my A4 avant

When I was getting a bar put on my van, I just went for the cheapest, fitted by a local chap. I figured that they are all constructed to specific
standards, so any should do the job.

I'll be fitting it myself but ideally I'd like a decent unit to avoid any very expensive problems!

I just bought one for my car from towbars direct.
I paid £170 for it, the cheapest I found it locally was £500 !!
Swan neck, single electrics + relay.
Watch this space - only going to use for towing Caterham to track days.

I'm only towing the force which will be less than half the weight of the caterham so let me know how it performs! Cheers

4 towbars I've had off eBay have fitted perfectly. Usually cost driven, pick one with 7 way relay.

They are made to standards, the difference seems to be degrees of ugliness, from what I have seen cheaper ones are larger and more boxy, where factory
OEM are more discrete and require less butchering of plastic bumpers.
On a van a big ugly bar could be a bonus of course.
