Saw this a while back, nice work and the exhaust is very interesting and sounds equally so.

Great looking project.
I'm no MechEng and is just me or do the chassis side rails/structure look a bit flimsy?
Presumably the body adds no structural strength or have I missed something?
I know lose weight, gain speed is a good mantra but given the power potential of a Turbo V8 surely the back end will try to catch up with the front end in not a nice way?
I can understand making it minimally if it's only being used in a straight line but for general road use?
Cheers, Pewe10

Chassis is 100% Mk Indy with a much taller central tunnel which is closed so the box has to be pulled out through the front rather than dropped down from underneath .

I don't think it's any different structurally than a viento or Dax Rush and they seem to stay in one piece .

So you're saying there's a problem with pretty much every car that's been built/driven on this site then?

On the plus side I can blame any dodgy handling on chassis flex rather than my driving

Your words not mine....

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't most cars on this forum have aluminium cladding which is either bonded or rivetted on helping strength.
As I said above presumably the body he's fitting adds nothing to structural strength.

Also my comment about that particular car/chassis is based on observing them at Autosolos.
It would not be my choice.

its not actually finished yet and the tub will be skinned on the inside . The only part I'm not bothering with is the lower section beyond the bulkhead which I doubt does a huge amount of stiffening and some kits offer the sections in grp . As I said the main difference is the central spine being closed and a lot taller than a normal seven contributes quite a lot of torsional stiffness much like the lotus esprit and Tvr chassis do

Not really, many (if not the majority) just have fibreglass panels offering little if any structural strength. Not sure how this 'Rod differs tbh.

If you don't mind me asking, how much in materials did the manifolds set you back? I want to design one similar for a turbo BEC.

£40 a side and they're sch40 mild as I can't run massive boost so they'll last a good while , 3 or 4 MM wall from memory . Stainless would have been another £30 per side in sch10 but my mate is a laser cutter programmer so knocked out the 10 MM flanges from a gasket pattern and squeezed them on the edge of a 10mm sheet so a freebie. Had some fun and games getting them clamped down for milling as they pulled quite a bit being a log style .

I think you are doing a great job and i don't think you will have any problems with that chassis keep up the good work and good luck
