not sure why this would be very hard since there is the picture of the VW. The kit car hardly looks damaged at all, weekend job if that to sort

That's not the point .
I think his point is more that a) the at-fault car is identifiable and b) at least it's an easy fix and no-one was likely hurt. I don't
think he was trying to make it seem like it wasn't a problem...

Vehicle (VW) comes at being MoT'd, but not taxed, on the DVLA site. Hopefully it's insured and (hopefully) it's registered so the
driver can be found, hopefully that driver has a licence.
Having suffered from 3 hit-and-runs when motorcycling, very few of the above held up, it made recourse difficult (my experience only).
