Lotus MKVI Replica (HGM) - Any info/help requested

I’m in the process of buying a Lotus MKVI replica chassis that is in an unbuilt/un-started condition. I’m pretty sure that this is an HGM chassis and I was wondering if there are any other HGM owners or builders on this forum or anyone that remembers these cars. I have an original brochure that I can try to scan/post-up.

I don’t know the precise numbers of chassis produced but I’m sure the number is very low.

Any information or history on these cars would be gratefully received.

I remember the car. I don't know much about them, but from my recollection it was a very authentic replica, down to using the same donor components as the original (split Ford 10 front axle; Austin Metropolitan rear axle?)?

If my recollection is correct, then historic sources (specialist like Mike Brotherwood and publications like the period Sports Car and Lotus Owner magazine) might be helpful to you?

Yes, it seems to be a very authentic replica. It has the Ford split front axle suspension and dimensionally the chassis is absolutely based on the original car with the same tubing, sizes, etc. I think the first cars were built around 2005/6 but I may be wrong on that.

That's really useful!

The links are now broken, but it you plug the link for the manufacturer's website into the Wayback Machine, it's actually pretty comprehensive.

Of course, the originals consisted of little more than a chassis and bodyshell, so minor components (electrical, trim, etc.) varied on each car anyway: it wasn't like the later kits for the Elite, Elan and Europa (or modern Caterham), where every last component was supplied in boxes.

Thank you both for your responses. I was aware of the links previously but assumed that as they were now broken they would be of no use.

I downloaded Wayback Machine, which I never knew existed and have been able to see the original HGM site pages which is an enormous help with lots of useful info.
