lanoguard
Hi,
Just a quickone, so after spending many weeks cleaning and restoring the underside of my volvo to near perfection , friends at work (ex-friends)
persuaded my to apply Lanoguard to it rather than my usual oil and underseal mixture. So that was todays task and overall I'm very happy with the
product with one caveat...
Holly Christ it so totally reeks of sheep!! oh man its overpowering and I even sprayed the whole engine now when I drive it smells like sweaty hot
sheep in a sauna gag!! how long does it take to stop even the dog went over and was like, what's died here? where's the corpse?
Be warned if you are thinking of using it as there's no going back now...

Don't panic, it goes away. Sprayed the whole underside of my 370z, smell was gone in a week.

not really still stinks anywhere near it a but a little bit less, can't be bothered driving cos of the smell and have the bonnet open most of
the evenings.
Also realised cos I sprayed it on a windy day, the whole car, including the windows is now covered in a stick dirty layer of grease that is a pain to
remove. The wipers now sound like the glass is frozen, I'll try and clean it off tonight with petrol and panel wipe.

I think your biggest mistake was the engine, that's going to take a while to stop reheating and smelling. The rest should be going off soon. I
didn't get overspray on mine but I can imagine that's a pain.

yeah you might be right but I was just going on the video they have plus the engine had been sitting idle for almost 2 years so the aluminium had gone
quite white with corrosion which instantly vanished with the spray, tbh the whole engine bay and underside now looks fantastic and I'm delighted
with the ascetics results, if it just didn't pong... I'd give the product 10/10.

Yeah it's a mild frustration for sure. I sprayed my transmission and it's OK now. Its made of sheep skin oils so I don't think you can
really get away from it ultimately.

Nice review chaps.
Do you think if i clean up some wishbones and uprights and coat it in Lanoguard it will prevent the flash rusting until im ready to get them powder
coated/POR15 later next year when i have all the parts ready to do in one hit?

Certainly reckon so, yes, but might be hard to get off. It's used by military and marine folk for bare metal protection so I'd only worry
about the full removal before powder applications.

Still smelly but not overly bad, running the engine for about an hour seems to have cured the stuff on that. I managed to overspray the axillary belt
and it started squeaking like crazy, so sprayed it with WD40 and it's silent again. Overall very happy with the product and will be respraying
this time next year. I've fitted a lot of new parts and will be interested to see if they remain rust free. Next time I will remove the brake
disks and calipers so it's easier to coat all the suspension and definitely will not be spraying it on a windy day again! I also don't
recommend doing this in the garage as the floor will end up all greasy.

My friend has various lanoguard products and they do indeed smell like essence of sheep. Good stuff though!
Actually talking of sheep, Welsh scientists have discovered 2 new uses for sheep... meat and wool.
