MK Indy Rover 820 turbo T series - any knowledge??
Hello everyone. When I was much younger I built a locost. Now many years on I am looking to buy a 2006 MK Indy. It has the Rover turbo T series engine
in the car already. The car has never been Road registered. Only used for track days and Hill climbs. I have a few questions if that’s okay-
Might anyone know the car?
Are these engines any good?
Will the car need a catalytic converter and lambda for anIVA test?
Thank you in advance 🙏

No idea about the iva requirements, but I used to love that engine back in my youth. A simple bleed nipple in the pressure line to the ecu would give
you 20 odd bhp more.

That engine had a good rep back in the day, tho' not one I know a great deal about myself.
Unless you can prove engine is pre '95 then it will need to pass the CAT emissions test for IVA

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

A good strong engine, if the cooling is done properly.
If it has been used for track days and hill climb, I would say it is sorted
As far as IVA is concerned, the emissions are checked based on engine age, so pre 2000.
If it uses the original ECU it shouldn't be a problem, if fitted with a sports Cat.

Robin Hood (now Great British Sportscars) did a number of cars with this engine. If i recall its a bit heavy by modern standards - think more pinto
than alloy blocked whatever. I think 200hp was relatively easily and reliably attainable.
The big question is what gearbox is it mated to and what clutch does it use. I think their was a rover (SD1 and LDV van) gearbox that fitted straight
up. There will be some information if you search (probably best via google) this site.

Ask on the Rhocar site, that is the Robin Hood one there are a few T engine gurus on there.
Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

That'd be an LT77

2WD ones are getting thin on the ground. The R380 has the same bolt pattern and is generally better.
