OK, I know the original plans for the Ron Champion spaceframe are for the old escort and being as they are like hens teeth and after reading some of
the other posts on here I see that a popular car to use now is the sierra.
What changes need to be made to the frame to accommodate the different parts? Is it a huge difference to the entire construction or are there just
subtle little bits that need to be changed?
Does anyone have any specific details or can anyone point me in the right direction to find them? I'm also thinking of going for a wider and
maybe longer chassis too. 442?

The "Haynes Roadster" might be worth a look at, it's wider than the "Locost" and is Sierra based, so a bit easier to get parts to build. Book is by Chris Gibbs. HTH Ray
Noid - there is a new book
Clicky here
which follows the same principles and is designed for the sierra. There also exists a forum for this build, although many members can also be found
here.

Hello,
You'd be better to look at the Haynes Roadster book by Chris Gibbs/Haynes which is essentially a Locost desgined to be built using Sierra
parts.
Much simpler than trying to convert the older Locost/Escort design. There's also a few builders on here with cars already on the road so lots of
help available.
Various parts suppliers will be able to provide you with suspension components, bodywork etc designed for the Roadster too.
way too slow with that reply then

Thanks guys, that is very helpful.
Seems that the roadster is the way to go.
Looks like I'll being going off to buy that book then.

And when did that happen, I have both the books and use ideas from both even though my build started with original Locost.
