I've started to work on converting my hydraulic clutch from the ZX9R 'B' to work from the cable attached to the clutch pedal.
Attached is my first mock up, I know its very crude and simple but I think with a bit more thought and engineering it may be a workable locost option.As you can see I've got the original master cylinder from the bike and removed the lever.

Trouble is the pedal is too solid because I have not got the same mechanical advantage I had when the complete brake lever was attached to the cylinder.
The cable at the pedal end only has around 2cm of travel when the footrest part moves around 15cm.
This means I've only got 2cm of cable travel to use at the cylinder end.

Ideally I'd like to change the clutch pedal to have more cable movement but my MK pedals cannot be changed due to the clearence under the pedals.
Can anyone suggest a better locost approach or comment?

what size is the piston in the MC?
would it be possible to mount a wilwood master cylinder, and drill the pedal for a clevis/rod end screwd to the push rod and bolted to the pedal?

ok, not particularly locost bust not huge;y expensive (all the parts should cost around £30-35 maybe?) and a bit of work on the bulkhead

Sorry this isn't going to be a very good description of what I mean.
could you not mount the master cylinder sideways on the engine side of the firewall with a std lever then have a rod from the pedal to the lever (similar to the way the brake works) that way the pedal would press the rod against the lever much the same as your fingers pull the lever towards the handlebars.

could you re attach the lever and find a way to connect the cable to it? leverage could be adjusted depending where along the lever the cable is attached

I have thought about the wilwood through the bulk idea. Your right it would be pretty locost, the bulk head might need some re-inforcing to stop it buckling over time. My biggest concern about this is the lack of adjustment it would give me, I wouldnt be able to change the amount of travel or bite point without moving the cylinder up and down the bulkhead.

Andy0, did think about re-attaching the lever and putting the cable on that. Unfortunately the 2cm of cable travel I have wont pull the lever far enough in to disengage the clutch.
