Pedal box sticking up...
scoop - 19/6/08 at 12:26 PM

I have the sierra pedal box fitted to a locost chassis and it sticks up into the engine bay and in front of the scuttle.
My question is, do i have to box it in so that nothing can get into the passenger area from the engine bay because as it is with the bonnet off you can see down onto the drivers feet?
Cheers,
Steve.

Mine is open, which is great in winter but my legs get hot on a warm day.

so you have plenty of leg room then?

i deff would box it in...

imagine an engine fire with fuel all over the place then it wont be easy to break...while burning your feet...

my advice = box it!!

a bit of alloy can keep water/fuel etc. simply out!!

Tks

last time I had a fire in the car (back of dash on fire due to me overloading wires for driving lights),I didn't break...I jumped out while still going along and the car ended up in a ditch and me with a sore ass.

Possibly may have panicked a bit

BTW: my 'firewall', 'bulkhead' or whatever you like to call it is entirely sealed off from the engine bay, for all the reasons suggested by tks.

BUt is it a requirement? I guess not if some of you are in a similar position.

Listen mate,

a tester always will have some general design rulez on which he can fail your car..

its like the EU rulez for importing a locost car into a foreign country they can grab you on :

- bad for human and animal
- road safety

tks...

you will never forgive youself if something happens...

If most Robin Hoods are anything to go by, then nope...
