washing car with a scouring pad...
blakep82 - 15/6/10 at 12:01 PM

NO! not me!
girl at work got a new car last month, birds went to town over it a few days in a row, she went to wash it herself, it didn't really come off, so she used the scouring pad side of the sponge... is she likely to have gone through the laquer? i don't think so. said i'd have a look.

would a quick going over with the finest wet and dry (wet, with soap?) get the worst out then polish with t-cut? would that work do we think?

it will probably just t cut out maybe a light compounding before the t cut then a gos resin based polish

2000 Wet and Dry, wet, with soap, very lightly, then Farecla, or T Cut.

Tell her to use a brillo pad next time, that'll really knacker it!

I know a guy who washed his car with a brilo pad. Only stopped when his dad caught him - one panel "washed" .

lol the birds had a go at it every day, and she got fed up paying for car washes every day

when my daughter first learnt to write she wrote her name on the side of my car with a stone , we left it on and kept the car for years , she had got right through the paint to bare metal

wet sanding is ALOT of work, i would suggest using a machine polisher, DA or Rotary with a cut polish and finish with a lighter compound.

Whilst she might not have gone thru the clear coat, rubbing hard with TCut she might.

What car is it? (german paint is classed as hard, jap is classed as butter soft)
