Thour thoughts please.
Good or not
All the articals I read lean towards them yet there is only 50ish out there and I am thinking about doing something with one that is..........................different

franky - 2/10/10 at 06:42 PM

Suppose to be great cars, I went to the factory and was very impressed and they seemed like nice people to deal with(A major+). They seem to do very well on track too. Maybe there's only 50 or so out there as the market for that type of car is quite limited?

expatkiwi - 2/10/10 at 07:01 PM

Agree.
I am sooooo close to making the jump

i like the cars a lot, if i had the space to build enough car it would be one off those.

spoke to some owners of them all seem realy good people as well, so big plus as well.

Tris - 2/10/10 at 07:31 PM

I have one which is about 75% built. Aiming on getting it finished by the spring.

There's some good info on the spire club's website, along with a few videos.

www.spireoc.co.uk.

Any questions then please feel free to ask, or anyone is more than welcome to come and have a look at mine if your ever near J13 M1.

expatkiwi - 2/10/10 at 07:34 PM

I had a look at Andys from the owners club on Tuesday night.
I am 90% convinced. I just have some engineering issues I have to work out in my head first and also whats the westy wort either with or without engine(I can flog the engine on to someone no problem)

Tris - 2/10/10 at 07:56 PM

If anyones interested, there's a finished Spire GTR up for sale here :-

http://www.blackbird-gtr.co.uk/

The owner has moved out to dubai, hence the sale.

Cheers
Tris

Also, have a look at the BDN S3, an example of which is being built by BobM on here.

Check out Bob's build here:
http://www.furybusa.org.uk/
The site also covers Bob racing his current machine - the engineering on the BDN is stunning and Bob is going to put the car through IVA!

BDN's site is here:

You wouldn't want to bend that bulkhead ££££!!!!

Strontium Dog - 3/10/10 at 11:56 AM

"Lightning" took me out for a ride in his Spire a couple of weeks ago and it felt very good. Seems like a good car and it went well with Kwacker 1200cc engine. Worth dropping him a pm for a chat about his!

expatkiwi - 3/10/10 at 08:55 PM

After finishing 1st in class and 5th overall at the Debden sprint today I dont think I will need one now..just a little more work on mine

hicost blade - 3/10/10 at 09:15 PM

Well done mate, what class were you in??

I would stick with the Westfield if I was you

expatkiwi - 3/10/10 at 09:16 PM

Class 11 Sports and Libre up to 2000cc

hicost blade - 3/10/10 at 09:27 PM

What else was in your class??

expatkiwi - 4/10/10 at 05:24 AM

Evo 6 7 8 or what ever it was they all look the same to me
Mk2 escort. I was way out in front of them, its the overall place that gets me.
There was some seriously good open wheelers there(about 10 of them). This week coming (10th) I have another sprint which is at Farnborough Hants and I am looking forward to that as there is Metro 6R4,Hillclimb westy plus others
Cheers
Brian

hicost blade - 4/10/10 at 05:15 PM

Ha! again well done mate, beating single seaters in a Westie must be extremely satisfying, especially as you built her to a budget

Have you looked at skinning the floor and putting on a rear diffuser?

Dave

expatkiwi - 4/10/10 at 09:58 PM

I think now as money allows it will get some under floor mods and a diffusser. Also replacing all the ally panels with carbon etc. The list is endless.

Lightning - 5/10/10 at 03:27 PM

PAUL FISHER - 5/10/10 at 09:58 PM

Very nice

Spireoc - 6/11/10 at 09:46 PM

Brian excellent news about your 1st in class and 5th overall.

That Rotary engine making 300bhp sounded a good option mated to an Audi Transaxle in a Spire.

Shame it won't now happen.

Hope you continue to do well. Maybe come along to one of our Spire Owners Club Track Days and give us a run for our money.

Andy SOC.

expatkiwi - 6/11/10 at 10:10 PM

Cheers Andy
The thoughts on this are still in the back of my brain and one day it may happen. It would be good to do just for the fact to see if it would work. Thanks again for the time showing me around your car
