fiat cinquecento alfa v6 12v powered 6R4 locost kit on eBay (end time 10-Jan-11 14:41:42 GMT)

mookaloid - 5/1/11 at 05:07 PM

I like the idea but that still needs a huge amount of work

blakep82 - 5/1/11 at 05:14 PM

i think that was someone on here doing that... i remember the photos

plentywahalla - 5/1/11 at 05:15 PM

Noooooooooooooo - Rav's selling project cinq!!!

That's a good friend of mine and I helped him with some of the initial stages - chopping up the cinq and fitting in the alfa engine etc etc. Then it went oop north. The work Mark has done, particularly on the cage is superb - TIG welded etc etc. Engine runs fine too. It's a shame he can't finish it but he's been a couple of 100 miles from it for years . I'd love to see someone finish it off. Holy poo has he put it on no reserve! That's gonna go really cheap I fear due to the uniqueness and skill required to finish it, so will be an amazing bargain considering the work that's gone into it. Ideal project for someone on here!

ReMan - 5/1/11 at 05:41 PM

I've place my bid

steve m - 5/1/11 at 05:44 PM

I think the whole project looks dreadfull !!

Why is the first question ?

I have several questions.

1 . If its supposed to be a 6R4 replica why not use a Metro shell?
2. Why use cheap trailer wheel arches
3. Why not follow original and make one piece GRP front instead of bodging up arches and cut and shut bumpers.

There is a lot of good engineering and quality components... but the detailing is awful and it will need a few cwt of filler.

Just my opinion ... waiting for the blast

marcjagman - 5/1/11 at 06:19 PM

I like it a lot. Some fibreglass and body filler will sort the body out. Hope it sells for a shed load.

What's dreadful about it?? I appreciate it may not be to everyone's taste, but then what is? OK maybe we had a Cinquecento fetish at the time too .

He'd just flogged a westy we restored and was running an Alfa 164 so we both were in love with the Alfa V6. Beer-fueled conversations went something like this...

'So you want to shove an alfa V6 in the back of a small car to make a RWD middy in sort of old Group B style. What small car should it be? Well... obviously the smallest lightest one, right? Yep.'

...and resulted in depraved filfth like this...

So it had to be done, and therefore was started. It was soon decided it needed to be done properly mechanically rather than a cut and shut bodge, so it has been. Yep the body still needs some work, and fiberglass and filler! But to make it a track car only, there's not a great deal needs doing to be honest. Would pick it up myself if I didn't already have a project to finish and hence wife who would kill me!

It's not supposed to be a 6R4 replica at all. I believe that and 'locost' can be considered ebay keyword spamming

Its the only thing I don't like about it, exhausts should be at the back....

..... like this

rpm - 5/1/11 at 07:32 PM

shame it;s the other end of the country, i'd buy it, alot of good works gone into that and it would make a interesting sprint/hillclimber

MakeEverything - 5/1/11 at 08:08 PM

If it were closer and i had space (same old story) id buy it.

morcus - 5/1/11 at 08:36 PM

I like it. As above if I had the space and it was closer and I new what I was doing and...

mrwibble - 5/1/11 at 09:00 PM

morcus - 6/1/11 at 01:46 AM

If I ever win the lottery I've promissed to do something simillar to my panda.

rav - 15/12/11 at 04:58 PM

Just seen this thread about my beloved cinquecento project... quite amused by the mixed love/hate reactions! Thanks for biggin it up Liam and representing the beer fueled total disregard for convention argument ! ;-)

So it isn't finished, it didn't sell (some guy bottled it after winning the bidding) and it back up for sale... anyone want a bargain winter project??

Mark

rav - 15/12/11 at 05:34 PM

for those that might be in the market for a mid engined project, you'll find it on the ebay ending this weekend.
I'll even wrap it for christmas... :-)

Macbeast - 15/12/11 at 06:51 PM

899cc?

I hope it looks amazing when it's done

Stott - 15/12/11 at 09:40 PM

I love that car, remember thinking the same the last time it was on here, would be amazing finished

D Beddows - 15/12/11 at 10:03 PM

I'll be honest - considering the OPs history on here, and his 'interesting' build which as I recall he sold unfinished..... I think he's a bit out of order.......

rav - 16/12/11 at 10:31 AM

Yep its true I haven't been a great contributor to the forum of late, in the past I did post a bit and helped people out but haven't had the time of late. I built a locost originally, back in 1999 I think, don't think the forum was around then, but it was one of the best things I've done. Thanks Ron, you rock!!!

Learnt so much, finished it and sold it, then converted an old westy to bec, turned out nice and drove really well. That one i sold too due to being broke.

The cinq was a bit different, its a real shame I haven't had time to finish. I've had it on ebay a few times, last time the guy who won it from northern Ireland sent me a cheque for it (just over £1k i think), then 2 days later sent me an abusive txt saying because I hadn't been in touch to confirm I had the cheque I must be "stealing" his money and he was going to sue me... so needless to say the sale didn't go ahead...

Anyway just wanted to set explain why its up for sale again and why I haven't been a very good forum contributor. Hopefully when I have more time in the future I can be a part of the locost community again when the next crazy car project ppops into me head and refuses to go away!!

Cheers
Mark

UncleFista - 16/12/11 at 01:44 PM

Rav, I don't think Dave means you, you're not the OP
