Scumbag college....Your starter for 10,i have a switch rated at 3 amp at 240V A/C and 5 amp at 125V A/C,how many amps would it handle at 12V D/C ?

You can't really tell without the datasheet, but probably bugger all if you need it to be reliable as the contacts arc with DC which is why the ratings are always much lower than AC.

depends more on if the load is inductive and how big the contact gap gets when you switch it off.... try it and see!
