Anyone ever have moments when they think "why didn't I just buy a flippin' kit?".
Sunday I started making the suspension brackets out of square tube. When the first one was finished and I put a bolt and a bush in it, I was dead
chuffed! After finishing the 10th bracket I was thinking... (and I still have more to do)

I admire everyone who does it all themselves.
But once you have made 1 bracket you now have the Tshirt, You can buy a set of them very locost. Make 1 and buy the rest,

I don't think I'd ever build my own chassis although next time (if there is a next time) I might be tempted to go a bit more basic and do a
bit more myself.
The MNR I bought is definately one of the easier options.
I bought the chassis bones and FB but everything else was fashioned with a hammer because i'm as tight as a ducks ....

I worked out that paying for the chassis and body are the cheaper part of the operation,the wheels shocks and seats plus the dash can reach the total of the initial kit outlay.

Yes have them often.
Made all my brackets out of 50mm box section.
I clicked "for the satisfaction of building it myself", but those that know me would say I should have picked the "tight as a ducks
arse" option.
Mind you, you can't argue with being on the road for less than the cost of most basic kits, and I only had to give up 6 years of my life to build
it.
I'm still thinking about what to build next.

I couldn't afford box section and had to bend offcuts of strip in vice using my BARE HANDS!

Bought a kit, as I couldnt weld well enough then. I'm not much better now, but trust my work a bit more!.
I didnt want to get on the road and kill myself, or worse still some one else or a kiddy, just because my welding skills are not up to scratch.
Safety was the No1 order of the day in my books and still is.
I'm living in Europe, kits are too expensive, and as bad as i build 
Now i can build it slowly and me wife doesn't notice that is not that locost after al
i'm doing mine to have something unique on the road.
Made my chassis but never again.
If i make another one it will be a kit. Less than a year to build instead of three!!
Anyone using a small garage with no power supply?
I'm using a generator and a small welder. That's dedication for you.
Didn't have the cash for a kit in one go. I can loose the cost without SWMBO noticing and also I enjoy the challenge. I think i must be touched or something.

i cant afford a kit but can buy bits n bobs as i go and the plus side is that i get the satisfaction of doing it myself
How about: as a design/fabrication lesson?
Wanted to learn with something cheap before doing something more costly and screwing it up. Kind of sounds like my love life actually.....
