Meet the Natives
liam.mccaffrey - 17/12/09 at 12:02 AM

Anyone been watching this.
If you haven't seen its about a group of tribes men from an island called Tana off he East coast of Oz. They visit the UK and spend time with a lot of people from different background. So far the so called "middle class" and "upper class" people have made themselves look like idiots imho. There was an "upper middle class" woman trying to explain DIY to guys who have built everything they have used or lived in, it was excruciating.

The tribesmen make some wonderfully telling and profound observations about our culture. Some very funny, some embarrassing (for us).

Only 2 episodes in, but thoroughly recommended so far.

No, not seen it.......what channel is it on?

Mind, not sure I could stand the inevitable embarrassment/squirming ....

Not seen it either - might just give that a go sometime.

Is this the same series that's been on before?

If so, the cultural observations are a delight and their belief that prince Philip is the son of god is truly hilarious

Had me in hysterics

Their honesty and open nature is very refreshing and as mentioned, their observations are very very telling of our true level detachment from the planet and each other.

Been on before this. They took them to Manchester where they were introduced to a "traditional" meal...KFC! They were then taken to the gay village where there was a drag queen singing which they didn't get at all. The Dad of the family had them washing his taxi and they were taken to a pub and given a pint which they were amused at. To top it all off, the night before they were leaving there was a bit of a do at home and the natives dressed in traditional clothes and did the dance and offered the Dad the chiefs staff as thanks and the next day the family in return gave the natives....a packet of Eccles cakes!
The one where they're taken to an upper class toff in a castle in the North East is good too just watch their reactions at the huge boiling pots and animal remains around the castle

Is it the one where the bloke sees the squirrel and says " It's so nice I want to put it on my head " ?
