zilspeed - 21/4/08 at 10:22 PM

Remember the Dax Rush that Athoirs posted the details of ?

Just to sum up.

1) Dax IRS chassis
2) Rover KV6
3) Drenth Racing box.
4) Graeme Wight is the man behind all of the re engineering.

Anyway, I'm rabbiting on.

Here's the video.
For all who haven't been to Doune hillclimb, no this isn't speeded up.

Les Mutch driving the GWR modified DAX IRS at Doune.

Wow. Reminds you of one of them 1920's film where everyone moves around really fast.

RK - 21/4/08 at 10:30 PM

Not a lot of room for error!

Respect, very very quick and tidy, wish i had a small amount of that talent

SixedUp - 21/4/08 at 11:34 PM

I see people driving like that, and it reminds me just how poor my driving really is. Bl**dy impressive.

Big Stu - 22/4/08 at 12:12 AM

I was up on the Sunday, good day out amazing how much grip some of the single seaters can get.

I think this link is the fastest ever time up the hill.

Makes me want to attempt a hill climb. ITs a shame the only car i have to do one in at the mo is my jag which aint gonna happen

nick205 - 22/4/08 at 07:05 AM

That's confirmed it for me......I am NOT a driving god

That single seater only just fits on the tarmac

The Great Fandango - 22/4/08 at 07:18 AM

Bigger balls than I'll ever have...

Don't they say everyone learns from their mistakes? I'm of the mind I'd rather make those mistakes during airfield trackdays with plenty of run-off.

Driving God my Ar.e

He's about fifty, about twenty stone and has a big ginger moustache.

They have spent the last year or so taking a kilo here and a kilo there off that car. If he lost a bit of weight himself he could go about three sconds faster!!!!

PS I'm family so I get to slag the old Bug.er off

Fantastic driving by Les
To put his efforts in perspective, he beat several single seaters despite the Dax being on road tyres!
You really notice that the car goes light over the hump in the 'tunnel'.

Cheapest and most effective way to "add lightness" too

Phil.J - 22/4/08 at 08:54 AM

What was the time for the Dax?
I go to Doune regularly for the national meetings, great venue to drive a single seater at, lots more grip than you dare explore to the limit!

athoirs - 22/4/08 at 09:36 AM

47.02 I think

worX - 22/4/08 at 10:31 AM

What time did he do that in Stu?

Do you think it was his first go???

There used to be a bloke who regularly hillclimbed an XJ6 (XJ40) at Harewood - to start with it was completely standard, with an auto box. It did get some changes over time though. So if all you have is the jag, go for it!

That video is pretty impressive although he could have been quicker - missed quite a few of the apexes! Not that I'm saying I could do any better mind you...
