ch1ll1 - 14/5/08 at 05:26 PM

hi all
is there a way of finding out a vin/chassis
number from a vehicle?
bought a car ( not been on road for over 25 years)
before 1984 when the vehicle reg changed from local gov to dvla,
not sure if the vin number is on the vehicle
not seen it yet !
dvla say i can use the car but have to give them the vin number.

original owner died years ago,
cheers paul

What car is it, maybe one of us will know the location to look?

its a model a ford ( kitcar styled) special
year 1958 it was converted,
dvla says its not a problem ( heard that before ),
just fill in the form we will send you,
take some pictures of it (prove what it is )
and will need the original chassis number which you will find on the vehicle !

I was once told by the DVLA that if a vechil hasn't been taxed since 1984 then they will not have any record of it. Don't know if thats true or not

the chap ask what it was , so i told him
he said thats ok. just fill the form in and go from there,

told me all about the change in 1984,
told me there shouldnt be a problem getting a reg doc for it,

so who knows

Some motor factors can look up the details from dvle off your registration number if you have it, Have you got any registration details at all?
