Ford recommend:

5w-30

For a highly stressed engine I would recommend (going by what I have read and experienced) going for an oil with the next viscosity up, so 5w-40 should be the one to have. This means under the harsher conditions the oil film will more likely be retained.

A bit of research also suggests that 5w-40 is one of the alternatives recommended by ford for the duratec anyway. That specifically being Formula Ford S Synthetic

Fully synthetic of course.
