Ive decided to shed out for a low line sump but still unsure of which company's to use. Scholar is £40 cheaper at £267 all in compared to the dunnell but I've read of some people having cracked welds and/ or leaks. if there are a few people here with the scholar and they have had no issues then that's the one for me. They look pretty indentical in the way the baffles and extra capacity are added.
Any recommendations welcome!

Ive got a scholar sump and cant fault it. The first one did crack when I fitted it. They did change it but i did have to make a little fuss.

Its been sat on the engine for five years now and never a drop of oil on the garage floor.

I have bought from both the above and would recomend both.

For what engine? Zetec? If i was forking out that sort of money I think id go the little extra a go for a raceline one.

I had been bidding on a raceline sump on the bay but lost out by a tenner and it went for £320. A new one, well I've been looking and they are around the £500 all in with postage so quite a lot more. The fabrication work on the dunnell sump is done for them so maybe thats abroad thing having a pro do it.

Its a lot of hassle to return a sump if a leak appears , and then the cars Off the road again.
Well I'll wait a while and see if anyone else has any experience. ( or a 2nd hand sump to sell :-)!

I've got a Scholar sump. It seems well made and I've not had any problems.

When I was looking around for a suitable sump, I remember reading that they are successfully used in a Westfield racing series, but I cant find a source for that now.

Only downside was when it was delivered it was full up with swarf, which I had to spend ages removing.

Made my shortened blacktop sump for £40, and that included buying a second pickup coz I messed the first one up, and the sheet metal from B&Q....

I've got a Dunnell one for the Duratec, it comes with the usual baffles and windage tray and also a new pick up pipe which saves the hassle of cutting the existing and hoping youve not chopped off to much! The Zetec one comes with pick up too.

Quality wise it looks really good and a bit cheaper than Raceline and a lot cheaper than Burton

Yeah, my mistake, I could have sworn they were £380 when I was looking the other day.
Burton do a welded version that looks quite good too.

burton one looks like its made for conversion into mk1/2 escorts ect
it will be too low for use on a 7 type kit imo

i am in the same position atm really want the raceline but dam its a lot of money tbh i am amazed no one has come up with a cheaper off the shelf option yet

Having recently got some stuff from Dunnels, I wouldnt go anywhere else, his (Paul's) customer service was superb, he even answered one of my emails from his phone whilst out on the lash!

I spoke to westfield and they said its ok for road use but recommended a raceline for track

To all thanks a bunch , ive decided scholar sump, the £40 saving is nearly a set of ARP bolts for 1/3 or a trackday!!
Any ideas on capacity with the scholar?
About time I tried these slicks then.

Just received the sump from scholar engines and it's extremely well made, the gasket face has also been machined to make sure it's perfect.
So if anyone else is thinking of a low line I'd recommend them.
