Ive started to get a really annoying rattle from the drive train. I get it when im static and can stop it by depressing the clutch and i get it when the engine is unloaded ie when you lift off to drift a little and then it stops again when you go back on.
I'm guessing its something to do with the clutch?

Bloody hell. Engine out job then I take it there is nothing i can adjust on a type 9 set up to get round it?

Try taking out almost all of the free play in the clutch cable , it may be because you don't have the rubber damper between the clutch cable and arm and the arm/bearing is chattering due to excess free play? My car does it and it doesn't have the damper, the clutch is new and the gearbox has only done a few thousand miles since being rebuilt . Doubt a new thrust bearing will make any difference

What clutch cable do you have? If it isn't a Sierra cable it's likely to have 2 x 17mm nuts on the outer cable at the gearbox end, pull the outer cable away from the gearbox and check the gap between the nut nearest the gearbox and the gearbox, you only want about 1mm . If it is any more then slacken the locknut and adjust until the free play has gone . If you look at the end of the cable there should be a rubber insert between the cable and the arm , without it you will get a rattle. Don't know if they are still available but my car has been without one for years without any problems apart from the rattle

Clutch arm mines does it too . Not to woried about it. You could just tension the cable a bit to see if that clears it.

Yeh I wouldnt be taking it to bits. A little pre tension should help. With very little sound proofing you hear much more than you would in a tintop.

I have no nuts... to adjust Im guessing, looking at it, that i only have the ratchet thing on the back of the pedal?

lift the pedal and reset the tension
may clear it.....

failing that which side is your exhaust.....if its drivers side, remove some of the wadding

Lifted the pedal and it did move a couple of teeth on the ratchet. It didnt seem as bad, just been out to Southwold and back, but started to come back again on the return trip. Got a nice mixed box of Aspinal cider though
