Fiesta over reving..

Hi all..

Any ideas, our 98 fiesta run around is over reving (increasing revs with when not under load, and in neutral).

Endura engine (i.e same as old KA, similar looking to X flow), fuel injected engine.

It's intermittent.. (only other half has had this happen).. Any ideas what it might be?

Dan

Sounds like an electrical/sensor fault giving a bad reading to the ECU.

Idle control vale &/or egr valve -- also check all the hoses related to the inlet manifold.

They all do that sir...
Put it in first and let the clutch bite, will bring it back to idle. I had a 95 car which i did 120,000 miles in. For 100,000 miles of it's life it would do this. It went to ford 17 times over two years (i'm not exagerating) and they couldn't fix it. Several mates had the same....
