problems

following me fitting the zzr1100 carbs to my 2L pinto last week I opened the jets up to 1.5 mmand it ran after a fashion. When I fitted the universal fuel pump, which is for carbed cars only. The pumped ticked for 20 secs or so till it filled everything up, then I started it and as I say it ran after a fashion. When I came to it 2 days later I turned it on to fill it all up and it just kept on ticking away until I got bored. There is loads of fuel in the tank, new filter fitted the right way round, the pump is made by FAI automotive PLC it is for carbed vehicles only, can be used in any orientation its an HB13B rated at 1.5 lt/min at 2-3 psi. I have changed the pump for another one the same but its no different any ideas welcome.

Is it pulling in air from a loose connection or split/hole in the hose.

I had the same problem and it was a loose jubliee clip

try a bike fuel pump? I think thats what most do with bike carbs. Its what i have done with my 2ltr pinto running zzr1100 carbs, i use a fuel pump from a kawasaki zzr1100, with no problems for 3000 miles

I cant see it is getting air in anywhere, and if I take the outlet pipe off the carbs it squirts fuel everywhere, if I put my thumb over the end it still keeps ticking away and does not seem to register that ther is resistance there i.e. the outlet is blocked. Is there anyone with a pump they could let me try to eliminate the problem please? I have it booked in with Boggs on Tuesday

I've got a spare ZZR pump, but I'm not down south until later next week.

I could see if there is a Post Office open tomorrow,

or get it on a before 9.00 am delivery on Tuesday morning, if I can get it in the post on Monday?

Mike
