BEC Drive Box ?

Im on the hunt for a drive box similar to the one produced by DRD

http://www.drdracing.co.uk/Drive_Box.php

No LSD option at the moment.

I definately want LSD, and dont want to pay Quaife prices...

Who on here has the ability to build such an item and maybe sell off a job lot of them.

I seem to have spent three days on the net looking for such an item, but all run to silly money.

Surely we must have a Locost wired engineer able to knock out a gear based LSD with bike sprocket input.

I spoke with the Autograss guys at the recent Autosport show about LSD options for reasonable money, they would sell like hotcakes. But no takers

Any suggestions for contacts ??

Not a drive box, or like the link, but something similar, but is LSD

I already have a Quaife chain drive LSD but due to the very short length of chain , the preference is to move away from a chain which will overheat swiftly..

Wheelbase of car = Fiat 126

Engine = Rotrex Blackbird

The bike engined Radicals have a Quaife setup, very Gucci but very pricey.

As you said in your U2U Ivan, the Quaife / Powertec may be expensive, but for me it's the best... LSD and reverse gear!

I've seen a couple come up second hand around the £1k mark.

You probably had a nose around one of the units at the Autosport show... if not, then you can poke and prod Stewart's one when you come up!

Give me ten minutes in a darkened room with it and it will slip quietly into the boot of the Saab .....

Want one !!!

Even used ones are very thin on the ground, there appears to be a global demand for them. The sandrail guys in California are all trying to do the same ie avoid paying $3500.

I think the autograss guys may have the answer, just need to find one.

I have not read the spec of the Quaife unit, so I dont really know whether it would be up to the abuse...

I think Spire had a Rotrex ZX12 in one of their cars , but that may have had a chain.

Does Iain not fancy building me a box using my existing Quaife atb.

I still have a few things to follow up, but if anyone fancies a project Im all ears ??

Those Quaife / Powertec jobbies have seen 300+bhp without any problems as I understand!

you could try Allens performance, the bike carb people, they did a chain drive unit with Nova racing (see my pic archive), it was also featured unfortunately on Kitcar Crisis, although all the so called experts on there mounted incorrectly, Steve at Allens may still have the odd unit hanging about, if so he may do a deal wink wink

I doubt it. They mainly run locked/fixed rather than slippers.
Jamie at DRD has looked at it in the past but 99% of his business is grassing and struggles to find enough hours in the day to develop stuff outside of grassing. If you are really serious about it drop him an email and ask him if he could squeeze it in between 4 and 5am!

Have a look here ! I think if you watch Mydrian's (mydT9) videos you'll see that the car gets some serious abuse! He's bloody fast too!

Spire sportscars run the elite diff in their 2 race cars.Link Not cheap at £1800. They also do a reverse gearbox.

Well I already have the Trickshifter from Mydrian's Darrian let see if he will part with his Quaife lump...

DRD are really busy producing drive boxes for grassers, but the LSD option they mention on their website is still a while off.

I seem to be looking into the drive box black hole, along with a few others.

£1200-£1300 is affordable but not £1900

Come on Locosters someone has one sitting somewhere !
