Pinto Head, whats it worth?

ey up,

swapped the head on my pinto as managed to get a decent one with a lumpy cam for very few penies.

Now of course I have the origonal head lying around. I know the sensible thing to do would be to spend the winter flowing it etc, but i know for a fact that i just wont do it, so may as well sell.

Its an unleaded 2.0 head and was sold to me as part of a fully reconditioned engine. since then i have completed 400 miles before swapping, so basically its done 400 miles since recon. Its standard cam and valves etc.

My main problem is i've no idea what its worth. so far as to say i was gonna put it on fleabay, but when i get the inevitable question of "do you have a buy it now price?" I dont know if i say £10 or £100.

any idea's?

and does anyone want it?

cheers,

Martin

PS. thought i'd post this in the for sale first so as not to trouble you wonderful admins into moving it.

The only Pinto head worth more than scrap value is the injection head.
Even that is only worth tens of £'s not hundreds.

its got to be worth a few more ££ than any old scrap one - an unleaded head thats ready to fit with good guides and valve seats etc....

do you know if its been skimmed and how much ?
has it got bronze valve guides fitted ?
has it had 3 angle valve seats cut ?

it cost me more than £100 to rebuild mine like that! (but I wouldn't get that back if I sold it )

btw - the unleaded ones have a code stamped on them (the sierra haynes books tell you more)

easy answer to the ebay question, is No. no uy it now price, let the auction run. it'll find its own value. just put a reasonable starting price on

I can get a full running Pinto for £100 so would only pay for an injection head

Unless its had inserts fitted, any unleaded head will be from an injection car anyway.

Complete head with std cam will be worth around £50-100 depending on where you advertise it.

No it won't there are 3 Pinto heads, leaded, unleaded and Injection (which is unleaded), the injection head has egg shaped inlet ports and a much smoother inlet port sharp turn

On that basis then If anyone wants to give me £50 for it and collect it then It'll save me the hassle of ebay, and mean i can get a coupld of tanks of fuel to enjoy the sunshine when it returns.

cheers,

Martin

Bugger I wanted this a few months back (remember my post about mine being buggered when you originally mentioned this was coming for sale)

I bought an injection head that was stood out in a field but was straight for £30 and built it up in the end,

C'est la vie so they say.

you hve u2u though
