Which is better?

Which is the best gear-changing arrangement for a BEC?

Push-pull cable assembly

-OR-

Rod linkage

Rods will nearly always give you the better feel but cables can go round corners

Had rods with gear stick system, now have cable and paddle shift.

Rods give more feel.

Cable apparently is kinder on the gearbox.

Mine's cable based upon the opinions of those in the know. It gives a surprising amount of feel.

Very interesting to hear everyones views.

I'm going to try switching from cable paddle shifts to cable stick on my BEC.

Interesting to hear that a cable is kinder the gearbox. Didn't sound very kind when I was trying to downshift into the hairpin at Cadwell lol

I know a lot of people maintain that cable is best, but I MUCH prefer rods...

It also makes it v easy to upgrade to a kwikshift...

I've kept the cable, ditched the paddleshifts and gone for a traditional gearshift set up and what a difference!

Granted there is clunk in the first 2 gears but after that it is silky smooth.

So happy I ditched the paddleshifters although they did look cool.

Cable FTW
