crossflow 1300 engine liner
Stripped my 1300 engine ready to have it bored out to +090" for 750 race series and found it has liners. What is the most likely reason for
liners to have been fitted?
I am hoping the block can still be used, should i start looking for another?
Any advise would be welcome.

We have been building 1300cc Locost race engines for three years. I would not use a block with liners in.
In addition watch out for blocks that have oversize (on the back) cam baring and / or oversize main bearings. These are usable but the bearings are
difficult to get and very expensive.
There are lots of 1300 blocks around.

why is that?
from info I have, crossflow can go to 090 prior to needng liners to go even further, say 85 mm to give 1760 (I am referring to 1600 block).
if it has had rebore(s) to max, then that is whythe sleeves were fitted.
that is my guess.
You must have more experience and knowledge about this than me, so as I do not see it as a bad thing, hence asking why?

Are you certain it has liners ? as if you have taken the head off it will leave a very neat ring were the head gasket was
also i was told by Burtons a good few years ago, that to have my 1600 xflow fitted with two liners would of been VERY VERY pricey

Thanks for the information, the liners are easily visible from below with the crank removed. The block and head are with Newark engines for rebore and
skimming so i will probably look for a new block before they start work.
