leaking oil pressure/temp sender

One of my senders is leaking. It's fitted around the sump area (can't quite remember exactly where it fits). As far as i can tell it's the threads that are not sealed. I was wondering if it's OK to use PTFE tape on the threads?

Thanks

I think PTFE tape will be fine, I've used it on my sensors and had no problems, we use it at work daily on hydraulic systems too. Just try not to get it over the end other threads so that it doesn't tear off and get into the sump and possibly block things up...

HTH, Chris

Thanks - that was what i was thinking. I'll give it a go making sure not to tape too far towards the inside end.

Thanks

for a lot of sensors the block is the electrical ground. would only work with explicit earthing.

Is it the threads, or is it coming from between the metal outer/plastic centre section?

Thats a very good point, my sensors are earthed back to the digital dash...

yes - good point about earthing. I'll have to check that. Sounds like i need some more investigation as to exactly where the leak is coming from too. Do these things ever vibrate loose on a BEC engine?
