private registration number advice needed.
hi guys im looking at buying a private reg for my car that is sorned .the reg is on ebay ,i have been told by a friend that i cant put it on
retention,but my car is no where near road legal ,i really want to buy the registration number, how do i go about this and how much on top of the ebay
price of the number will i need to pay?

Assuming the plate isnt on a car currently and its a private sale. - once the plate (certificate) is purchased, you become the grantee (there is no
fee to change grantee) and you can then retain it for as long as your willing to pay the annual £25 retention fee. When you wish to transfer it to the
car the assignment fee will have already been paid by who ever transfered/retained it.
