eBay Question

Hi All

I sold something on eBay two months ago. The guy couldn't get it to work (didn't realise he'd have to swap the looms over on his bike) so I agreed to refund his money provided he agreed to go through eBay's non paying bidder - agree to not continue with the sale. This would give me a full eBay refund for the fees.

He questioned this and now the time has lapsed so I can't get a refund. He also hasn't returned the item after two months. He's emailed me today to ask me where to send it to.

What do you think I should do? The communications have been fine and I'd be happy to have the item returned but I'm going to lose out financially and he's had the item a long time!

Wyn

Explain that you'll 'lose out' and ask him if he is willing to cover the ebay seller costs?

yes

2 months is way to long. if he covers what you lost then refund. otherwise tell him to relist them on ebay himself.

2 weks is about all i would allow, 2 months is just silly.......

fuckit

If there's nothing wrong with the item or your description, then explain that you are doing this out of goodwill and he will have to cover your costs.

Seems reasonable to me.

Cheers

Here's his response -

Before we go into "only fair", I travelled to Spain and couldn't ride my bike...you wanna look at the cost of that? Where do I reclaim these?

He wouldn't swap the loom so it wasn't going to work - my ad was pretty clear I think.

I'm tempted to say I don't want it back now.

Yep tell him to stick it. You've been more than fair and why should YOU incur expenses.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

But is it worth losing my 100% feedback for £8?!

First of all you can respond to his feedback on your account and secondly can he leave feedback now?

Yes, you get 6 months to leave feedback IIRC.

You are gauranteed to be able to leave feedback for up to 90 days after the auction. Past that it's pot luck for how long the auction stays on the system, it may dissapear straight after the 90 days is up.

I'd read the 90 day bit but I'm sure I've left feedback much later than 90 days before!
