Pre 95 ?
The engine ive got comes from a bike dated 1st aug 95. I think this will eligable for the 'nice' emmisions test at SVA (engine would have
to be made prior to this date).
But how do I prove it? Is the only way to write off to Honda and ask them for a letter, surely this could could take forever to get a reply. Has
anyone encounted similar?

I've got a nasty feeling you are just the wrong side of '95, I might be wrong but it is very near the cut off date.
In theory you wil need a form of proof, unless you take a chance and hope the inspector takes your word, but would only go this route if I was in the
right!

Hi
I kept the bikes V5
My RF900 was 1st reg'd 1999 (import) but stated maunfactured 1994.
as far as i remember 1995 was ok as well.
The best thing to do now is have a search on
the http://www.direct.gov.uk
and search kit car etc.
I tested mine 2003 so things may of changed.
This page confused me (?1997 for emmisions)

The date of manufacture for the engine has to be before 01/08/95.

As mentioned above, the cut off date is manufactured pre 1st August '95. If you have proof that the bike was first registered on that date then
the SVA examiner MAY take the logic that the engine had to be manufactured before that date. Then again they may say the engine could have been
replaced and so is newer!!
Best option if you have proof of the age of the bike is to give the local SVA station a call and see what they say. I do think you will end up having
to write to Honda though myself and obviously the sooner the better
