Floor mounted versus top mounted pedals
What are the pros and cons?
More specifically, do floor mounted pedals give a good enough pedal ratio?
Cheers,

I can see where you're coming from with the question but you should be able to get exactly the same ratio whether top or floor mounted.
Floor mounted pedals have a bit less space for mounting master cylinders and cables but are (in my opinion) better ergonomically. The movement of the
pedal follows (more closely) the natural movement of your foot when seated with your legs pointing forwards and almost unbent.

Top mounted pedals offer the option of mounting the master cylinders facing backwards as on the Caterham. --- this can give a better pedal ratio and
a decent stroke for the master cylinder push rod but a lot depends on the position of the steering column

Points of benefit for top mounted pedals
Left leg can be relaxed under (behind) the top mouted clutch pedal when in top gear for prolongued periods
The pedal box structure doesn't sit in a puddle if it rains (and rusts)
In my case the footwell is wider at the top than the bottom giving more space to mount the unit
Cable clutch and throttle cables are at top of engine bay level (accessible)
Hydraulic master cylinders and reservoirs are also "up top"
On a negative point, I believe that it was more difficult to top mount the pedals, but on balance, I believe the extra effort is worth it

I used to have an old VW beetle, and really didn't care for the floor mounted pedals, finding it particularly uncomfortable to hold down the
accelerator for long periods of time.
They are good for the calves, I suppose.

Size of your feet can also make a difference to the leverage ratio --- if you have large feet bottom pivot pedals make some sense. If you have small
feet, top pivot pedals can have more leverage.
