IVA - payment and then station booking
killerferret666 - 8/8/14 at 11:46 AM

From everything Ive read on here, they contact you to take payment.

Well my credit card is showing the money taken on the 29/07 but ive had no contact.
Anyone else had this happen?

If so guessing the test centre will contact me next.

If you filled in the credit card details at the bottom of the form then they dont need to contact you for payment.

Mine was taken and then maybe a week later I got a call to book the appointment.

Cheers

After 10 days I phoned DVLA for an update, they gave me the test centre phone number. When I phoned them they said that they had received my details a few minutes earlier (funny that!)
I explained that my insurance on the VIN had only 3 weeks left and they offered me the next day or the next week

cheers for clearing that up.

I'll give them till mid next week then a chase if needed as I want to book for 1st week in september anyway.

They got my application on 22nd July and took the money from my bank on 30th July. Chased them up today and it's been sent to the testing station this morning.

chased them up yesterday and said its with their technical team and should be processed through today....so it seems you only get processed if you chase!

But they were able to process the last page within a day of receiving for the money

They took my payment out two weeks ago. I called them yesterday, and guess what...it's with thier technical team. A bit cheeky really as £450 quid from enough people will earn them a fair bit of interest over a few years.

They told me last Friday that it had been that my app had been sent to the testing station. Phoned them today as I hadn't heard anything. Tester phoned me back and got a date for next Thursday. All I need now is a trailer and tow car.

Jenko - 15/8/14 at 06:08 AM

Why don't you drive it to the test station?

gaz05 - 15/8/14 at 07:19 AM

It's 40 miles and given that the car has only driven a few miles up to now I'd rather trailer it up.

killerferret666 - 15/8/14 at 07:23 AM

Same as what I'm doing, Trailoring it.

I'll actually drive it to the petrol station and back home early on the morning to hopefully bed the brakes in a little and safely with no cars on the road at about 5am! Then rather then hire a trailor i've found a guy via ebay who moves classic cars about, who will take and bring me back (4 /5hours later) for £80 so to remove all the hassle and lack of skill in loading a car its only £20 more then a trailor hire! Plus mine is quite a large car.

I guess the only issue is strictly speaking you are driving illegally to and from a petrol station, whereas to the IVA test you are actually leaglly allowed to drive it there.

Very true but ill have insurance and ill make sure its one on the way, if heading back home its because I forgot some paperwork

Either that or if they got really funny...I just keep on driving
