Steering lock ignition problem
agors - 10/4/17 at 08:53 PM

Hi all,
I have a problem with mi ignition switch that is broken.
The issue is that I don't know where the steering lock comes from.

Do you have any idea? Could you help?

I would like to buy a replacement and fix my westfield

it looks like a layland cars (austin/morris/etc) part.
which bit is broken? if its the electrical part, then usually this can be replaced on its own. (though I do notice a jubilee clip round the barrel)
also does it have any part numbers on it?

No, unfortunately no part number;
Searching on internet it could be a LDV convoy part, but not sure;

The only part broken is the electrical switch

as I say, the electrical switch is usually an insert.
quick searching found some, - though they seem very expensive
try this for a start
holden.co.uk
or
Lucas 157SA Ignition Switch 39415 / 579085 for Triumph TR6 GT6 Stag & Land Rover

can you show a photo of the broken bit, ie the connectors etc.
edit, make holden link work

To my eyes it looks like the old style defender ignition barrel.

Not 100% sure on this, as Defenders usually have an angled barrel from the lock. Could possibly be from an early 90 (before they called them Defenders) or a Series though? If it is, then I definitely didn't pay £37 for a replacement electrical unit on the back of it, think it was nearer £18-20!

Yeah, hard to tell from picture! like I said looks like the old defenders (series) could be wrong but just my 2p.

Lucas sell the replacement switch for them.

Good luck

Unfortunately I don't have now another pic.
The defender one seems very similar, but the barrel looks different in the diameter that connect to the column.

I'm buying a replacement for 10£ for the LDV,
If it doesn't work, il try with the defender one

Just the electrical part,
If I'll find a defender ign switch I'll try to see if it fit
