do you want to use my covered trailer? then your car stays dry!

unijacko67 - 9/5/14 at 07:07 AM

Thanks for the offer Dan, but we can use the van. Fingers crossed it may not be to bad. Had the car at Bingley Engineering last night to check the geometry and strangly the camber on the near side was out (had little to none) so put that back to 1.25 degrees, then set it up on the scales for driver only, then when I got home I re did the tracking. I also did a bit of testing with the brake bias in the wet with my road tyres, but found that I could put loads of bias to the rear with very little change in stopping power as the front road tyres didn't have the affect of making the rear go light. I think I'll run up the hill with plenty on the front and adjust as the day goes on as I don't want the rear to lock up. Cheers.

You're correct about the bias. It seems counter-intuitive but, in the wet you can add bias to the rear as there is less weight transfer when grip is lower.

ps. shouldn't the sprint/hillclimb threads be in "Race issues"?

Cheers Adi.

Not sure where I should post it to be fair. It's not racing and it's not an issue, what do you recon?

would of popped up for a bit but looks like i'll be fitting an engine tomorrow.

Well it was a wet start and a slow first run for me just checking it out at 38+ seconds, got faster all day finishing with a 29+ dry run. Tried out some wider tyres on the rear courtesy of Dan Mason and made a couple of changes to the spring's and dampers which all worked remarkably well. Won my class which wasn't a supprise as only me in it, but also I got a pot for the best presented car which was a nice bonus. Good to meet up with a couple of locost members also.

Good result. I'll come to the next one at Barbon (only about 10 miles away from me). Hopefully I'll be in my car as well! I'd love to compete but I think that's a bit far away...

Hi Andrew,

I was one of those locost members!

Was a great day, first time up there to watch. Really enjoyed it. Those guys getting up there in 21 seconds, mental, especially in the damp conditions.

Andrew you did well getting a 29, that beat a lot of other good cars! Was nice to meet you, wish I had got around to coming back to see you. Would have liked to have looked at your car more but the weather didn’t make it easy to move around and didn’t want to bother you while you were changing your settings. Car looked ace, hope to see you again up there next year.

I had to get the Elise pushed off the grass as I got stuck! All good fun though.

Regards, Rob
