I've recently bought a remote gear change for my type 9 box off ben copeland and I cant work out how to fit it.
Do I have to cut a hole in the rear of the box for the fork to move in? Also do I have to remove the reverse detent??
Any fitting info would be great as I can't find any online.
What type of remote is it? You don't have to do either of those to mine.
Sean
It's a rally design one. As far as I'm aware there's no need to remove anything. No cutting. Just bolts in place of the gearstick. Which then bolts to the extension.
Hi
Remove the rear tin seal on Gbox and reverse blocker. Simply then bolt on as the reverse blocker is now on the new extension.
I usually find the RD version ( copy of Westfield item) needs fettleing where as the Westfield version is a better fit, But should work fine once
fettled.
Cheers Matt
I'll have another look this evening, I must be being stupid or something
I've got some pics of mine fitted here
As procomp says, it'll probably need a bit of fettleing. Mine let you select reverse without first pressing the lever down until I
'tweaked' it a bit.
I had another look tonight and I'm still miffed.
Its the piece that is arrowed in red that I'm having trouble with. I'm assuming that the plate above the output shaft has to be cut for the
tube to fit through? ( And remove the reverse plate inside the gearbox).
Cheers for the help guys.
That looks like it works the same way as the one I designed (or is a copy!)
Have a look at my website - select "special tools & parts" from the menu, then "Ford 5-speed gearbox extension".
In there you'll find the sequence for removing the bit of the gearbox that has to come out and get fitted to the back of the extension - assuming
that it is the same, of course.

as Procomp says Knock out the end plate you also need to remove the plastic saddle clip that is on the shaft and refit this to the extension
