Steering wheel diameter?
Struggling to find anything with the search function at the moment and wondering what sort of steering wheel sizes people are using.
Can you post (to the best of your knowledge):
Steering wheel diameter
whether that is to the centre of the rim or the outer edge of the rim
steering rack (oe or quick as most people wont know ratio and lock to lock turns are meaningless)
Front tyre width.
Should prove interesting
Cheers!

11" diameter steering wheel (outer edge to outer edge - not sure how "diameter" could mean "to the centre of the
hub"???)
Standard Escort rack (AFAIK)
185 width tyres

10" diameter mountey, Rally Design quick rack, cortina uprights, ET18 wheels, 16/53 slicks or 185/60 Yoko A048Rs, 2.6 deg caster, steering
really quite light. Will be increasing the castor soon.

Cheers for the replies, quick edit, I meant to the centre of the rim (how wheel manufacturers normally quote it) or to the outer edge (how people in
their garage normally measure it)

Mine is 14" diameter, pug 309 manual rack, 225 tyres
If you use the search function unsing the link at the top of the page (u2u, member list, search) it works much better than the one on the home page

I've got a 300mm wheel (manufacturer measurement) with lifeline quick release, quick rack (2.5 turns I think) and iirc 185's on the front
on 13's. Haven't been out to the garage in a while, too cold.

I find small steering wheels make for twitchy steering.
I use a 12in, but am modifying the column to get a 13in to mount.

Hi
Tiger Avon
15" Wheels, 195/50 tyres, toyo 888
260mm steering wheel (outside diamater)
2.4 rack
Thinking of increasing the diameter slightly as steering is a little heavy, if trying to correct a spin !
(Ok, I know I should spin less )

So quite a few folk running ten inch wheels then!
I was thinking of 12, current (donor) wheel measures 380mm round the outside which is 15 inches, or probably 14 measured at the rim centre!
Im planning on 13 inch wheels with slicks on track, a 2.7 turn rack and 5 degrees of castor or thereabouts and dont want it toooo heavy.

Hi
The most commonly used size is 280mm or 285mm Dia. Usually with 13" rims with 185 or 205 rubber and a 2.2 or 2.4 ratio rack. Castor should be
around 4.5 - 6 on a good setup assuming we are talking locost / westfield type setup. There will not be any real difference in stiffness between soft
slicks and toyo/ yokos once rolling more likely to find a difference in the rack setup / preload on rack bar engagement.
Cheers Matt
