why take it to a test station, I have heard more than once that this can cause its own problems as your car at this stage is logged with the DVLA requiring a test within 12 months,. Could be wrong on this

I wanted to get the emissions tested and speedo tested as my car has a gsxr bike engine in it and im worried that it might not pass the car emission test.

I was told categorically by many members on here not to bother
getting it MOTed beforehand as its on the system and as above
you need to get it tested every year then!

whereas if not you get the 3 year "free" period!

Yes i see what you mean now i dont realy want to be getting it tested every year for the first 3 years. Once theyve got it recorded i think i will have to get it mot'ed every year thanks for that!

I don't think they could check your speedo for correctness anyway, think their brake tester only runs at something like 5 mph. I got my emisions tested at my local garage, they had the gear to do it, and at SVA it was exactly as they said. HTH Ray

To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

Re Insurance - I went with Frank Pickles and got a year at £ 120. Agreed that in case of accident I would repair thus saving labour costs and Pickles would pay for the parts.

I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

You can still ask the MOT station to do a test to MOT standards without the certificate

Basicly the garage will pocket the money,

I think it would be a very good idea to have a neutrol check over the car, especially underneath !!

Ditto for me, no special agreement though, and it came in around £150 i think. I'm 27, no 'no claims' for that policy, limited mileage to 4k, locked up in the garage at night.
