Retaining Number Plate from SORN'd Un-Tested Car???
If I've understood the DVLA guidelines right, then you can't put a number plate on retention if it's to be taken from your
SORN's non-MOT'd car.
Does anyone know of any tricks to get round this (other than MOT the bugger... it's not financially viable to do so!).
Cheeeers!

No tricks, you need an MoT.
Edit: You need a friendly MoT man who will do you a ticket without seeing the car who is happy to know you wont be using the car, you just want the
plate

It would cost a small fortune to MOT it (Jaguar) and it's just not worth it as I just want the drivetrain out of it.
It's the previous owner who wants the plate... he gave me that car for now't on the understanding that he'd get the number plate if
I decided to MOT the car, rather than strip / scrap it.
I'd like to help him out if I reasonably could.

I'm sure there are plenty of test stations willing to risk getting struck off for a fiver

I can't see any MOT test stations being willing to help. It might be worth calling the DVLA in the first instance and explaining your
circumstances, without being too specific about the car registration number. If that doesn't help, put all the details into a letter/e-mail and
send it to them. Worst case, you need to get it MOT'd and are back to square one......

No mot man would just send you an mot for it, you'd probably have to find one prepared to register the car to themselves, then they could strip
it to remove evidence that it was not roadworthy at the time they issued the cert. But what a lot of effort! Realistically, i think its not going to
happen.
Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.
