small engine wanted

We are building an off road buggy for my mates grandson so we are looking for a small chain driven bike engine of 250cc upwards , possibly a twin two stroke or what have you got .
Should be as complete as possible and preferably a runner.
I put it to the collective. resistance is futile
Regards Denis.

I tried this last year when I was building my mobility scooter. No luck. In the end I bought a brand new Chinese put bike engine. Was about £200 with everything ready to go.

Thanks Chris, we are thinking of buying a complete bike and breaking it for the engine and selling the rest on.

Would a ZX10 (old model) be too powerful.

This one has the restricted carbs, so it's only 125bhp.
But you could fit the unrestricted carbs for 137bhp.

Go on, you know you want to.

£200. Fit a throttle stop to be released as he gets older / grandad wants a go.

Get thee behind me zill, putting temptation in my way. The price is right but I think it might be too much for a ten year old.

Denis.

small engine

Thanks for the replies fella's.
Bob , we are really wanting an engine with gears and cluch.
If it was for me I would put a big engine in it.

Skov, The NVT might be ok. I will keep you in mind as I have a few iron's in the fire at the moment.

Thanks Denis.

CB500 or kawasaki ER5 might fit the bill, 50 odd hp inline twin and cheap as chips. Also they last till the end of time.
