Had some great fun yesterday in the very nice Welsh sunshine.
Car was going very well....right up to the point the gearbox gave up. Mission now is to get the gearbox fixed before next weekend (Crystal Palace and
Goodwood!).
The Striker was a whole 130BHP 1.6 4AGE lol....! Proving that a tight circuit like Llandow needs nimble as well as power. The Striker I was chasing
is very well driven by one of the RAW guys and has IRS which makes a big difference over the kerbs. You'll notice I had to back off a number of
times with other traffic but once I was on him.....game over.
You don't really appreciate the speed differential on a trackday until you watch it back from someone else's car. In the few laps after
this (having been held up by the Westfield and the Tiger) I'm 1/3 of a lap further on.
If thats the lad from Raw then he's got the same engine as mine, Its a 5pw R1, so 150bhp (when new!). Does seam to go rather well.
Time for a new chassis Jeffw
Yes, you are correct, it is the BEC one. It does go well. Certainly one of the quickest things all day. On a clear track I could certainly close
him down significantly, he gains on the brakes (lighter car) and with the IRS through the twisty section.
well thats good to know what my car is capable of!!! would have been interesting to have a clear track and seen the difference in lap times. Striaght
line power vs corner speed
I was down in the 44sec bracket and I was certainly taking 1-2 secs out of him on an open track. Not really a fair comparison though. You need to
look at how he gets past everything else on track.
Anyway.....gratuitous flame shot from the Striker after my overtake
his front suspension does not move at all. Just watch the video again the whole car rocks from side to side with no movement, the wheels do not go up
and down? Take a look at the famous carterham and Porsche you tube of the ring to give a bit of perspective.
the body should stay still and the wheels on the bus go up and down
