Knob Problems!
Many years ago, I had a long, bendy knob that fitted nicely, but I sold it and ended up with a short, straight knob.
Anyway, problem is thus. I'm not sure what the best course of action is here, should I bend my knob, get a long bendy one again? something
else?

Think you need a good clean up before you touch your knob!

That area hasn't had much use over winter, so my knob's a bit dusty

I've heard a bit of gentle stretching can help

Although posting pictures of your knob should be discouraged, I think you need some kind of extension.

I'd stick the whole shaft in a vice and clamp it up really tight, then tug at the end until it's bent towards you more.

I reduced my shaft as the knob stuck out too much

Once seated I doubt you'll be able to reach your knob comfortably unless you kink it.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Looks like you'll catch your fingers on the dash unless a kink is added.
Don't want to end up with a sore hand.

So then, kinking my knob?
Vice + Brute force = happy? bit of heat perhaps?

Whee! I now have a short, bent knob, I think it might need more bending, but I suspect it'll feel crappy at that point, dash needs fitting and
finishing before I do any more.
FWIW, stripped the thing down, clamped as low as I could without bothering the spring, heated until cherry and bent with a handy pipe.
