OT. Aquiring Magnesium
Im Seriously into unusual photography and have come up with an unusual scheme in my head for some interesting pics..
However, My lunatic scheme requires some magnesium ribbon that I can set fire to to provide a brilliant white light and some smoke.. All in a
controled environment I hasten to add...
but, appart from robbing the local school (like taking candy from a baby and all that)...How and where does one get pure magnesium?

Is that kind of magnesium pure enough to burn like you would expect it to?

years ago our teacher left a very large lump of magnesium (possibley potasium... it was a while ago!)
It was duly swiped and found its way to the school pond...

You'ld be suprised what you can buy from chemical suppliers without questions.....
Just expect most of your phonecalls to be recorded if you buy too much dodgey stuff!!!

Unobtainium swarf goes well, especially if WD40 has been used as a cutting lube.
One of my local pubs still has a dark patch on the ceiling, just under where an ashtray used to be.
We had to drink by feel that night, and finding the barmaid was interesting.

And it's easier to obtain. You make your own!
For those who already know how to make it, no explanation is neccesssary and for those who don't.........you are missing a great experience.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!
